HAVING FUN WITH ATHLETICS 2019 - final phase of the Community of Madrid
Last Thursday, March 7, 2019, our athletes participated in the final phase of the Community of Madrid of the national school competition: 'Having fun with Athletics'.
Only the 8 best Schools of the Community of Madrid that had qualified in a previous phase agreed get access to this final. Our student’s teams were classified as male and female (1st ESO) and male and female cadets (2nd and 3rd ESO).
The final classification by teams was:
Infantile female: 6th place
Infantile male: 6th place
Female Cadet: 8th place
Male Cadet: 5th place
At the individual level, the most outstanding results were:
- Teo Solari (1st ESO): Bronze in Long jump with a mark of 4.21m
- Alejandra Cobo (1st ESO): Bronze in Weight with a mark of 7.20m
- Javier Mosteiro (3rd ESO): Gold in High jump with 1.62m, Silver in 60m with a mark of 7.90 "and Silver in 60mv with a mark of 9.88"
This competition, which is aimed at the educational stage of Secondary, promotes participation with team competitions. Its promotion is carried out through the Autonomous Federations in coordination with the Autonomous Communities.
The Royal Spanish Athletics Federation is the organizer of this championship, in order to promote the sport of athletics in schools.
The program of the competition is developed in 3 phases:
Qualifying Phase disputed in the José Caballero Sports Center in Alcobendas, Madrid (21-II-2019):
In which each school participates in the area designated by the organization.
All our athletes achieved excellent results in the different tests carried out; This allowed us to qualify, to participate in the next phase, in the categories: Infantile male and female (1st ESO) and male and female Cadet (2nd and 3rd ESO).
Final phase, disputed on the indoor track of the municipal sports center of Gallur, Madrid (7-III-2019):
Accessed by the 8 best Centers of the Community of Madrid and held this past Thursday, March 7, on the indoor track of the Municipal Sports Center "Gallur".
