International Baccalaureate (IB)
The IB Continuum develops inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are motivated to succeed.
International Baccalaureate (IB) world schools have a common philosophy, which is based on the commitment to improving the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive student community through the delivery of high quality international education programs that share a powerful vision. To train young people who are supportive, informed and eager for knowledge, capable of contributing to create a better and more peaceful world, within the framework of mutual understanding and intercultural respect. In pursuit of this objective, the organization collaborates with schools, governments and international organizations to create and develop rigorous international education programs and evaluation methods. These programs encourage students around the world to take an active attitude towards learning throughout their lives, to be compassionate and to understand that other people, with their differences, may also be right.
International School San Patricio Toledo offers a continuum of the International Baccalaureate (IB) organization in Spain. From 3 to 17 years. PEP (elementary school program) MYP (Middle Years Program) and PD (diploma program)
International School San Patricio Toledo also offers its students the chance to obtain the official certificates issued by the University of Cambridge and Trinitty College of London. Also the DELE (Diploma of Spanish as a foreign language) of the Cervantes Institute.
WHAT IS PYP?
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) prepares students, making them active and caring, allowing them to adopt a learning attitude for their whole life, which shows respect for themselves and others, and to be able to participate in the world around them. It focuses on the comprehensive development of child through the inquiry using their natural curiosity and their skills in research and discovery, within and outside of the classroom.
WHAT IS MYP?
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) of the International Baccalaureate© (IB) is a rigorous academic framework which encourages students of 11 to 16 years of age to establish practical connections between their studies and the real world.
Students completing the MYP have suitable preparation to study the Diploma Programme (PD) of the IB.
WHAT IS THE DP?
The Diploma Programme (DP) aims to train students to achieve an excellent breadth and depth of knowledge while also growing physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.
The Diploma Programme (DP) of the International Baccalaureate® (IB) is an educational programme with its own evaluation system, aimed at students of 16 to 19 years of age.
ISSPT has actively developed a curriculum that we hope not only inspires but excites our students.
Whilst we hold true to the overarching principles of the PYP Curriculum which provide a framework for our key teaching and learning intentions, we firmly believe that equipping our young 21st century learners with the relevant skills and knowledge to help them move forward into the unknown is our primary duty as teachers, promoting student agency, giving them voice, choice, and responsibility for their learning. We have a duty of care to ensure children begin to develop a sense of respect, responsibility and purpose through spiritual, moral, social and cultural awareness, enabling them to thrive and flourish whatever life throws at them.
